Jordi became a therapist because of her own experiences in therapy – some positive, some not-so-positive. She knows the value of developing a relationship with a professional listener: someone non-judgmental, trustworthy, and unbiased. She is committed to being that person for her clients, but realizes that finding the right therapist is never straightforward. She’s happy to help you along that journey, even if it means referring to one of her amazing colleagues. In her opinion, any step toward help is a good step. After all, it’s really hard to reach out when you’re hurting.
Jordi did her training and internship at Briercrest College and Seminary. She loves to work with post-secondary students (“emerging adults”) but enjoys people of all ages and backgrounds. Her practice is limited to adults currently, and she sees people on an individual basis. That said, clients can expect a lot of questions around interpersonal dynamics and family/social/cultural context. No life happens in a vacuum, right? Thanks to TEAM-CBT, she has some great tools for transforming relationships, but also for intrapersonal change – recovering from depression and anxiety, in particular.
Before Jordi became a therapist, she was a writer – so narrative therapy still holds a special place in her heart. She believes that human stories are dynamic, in flux, and performative; sometimes it feels like we’re living a script that has been written for us, but in fact we have a lot of editing power. Jordi’s passion is to help her clients rework the plot-line so they can live out the story they want for themselves.
